Tom and Drew to start for Oxford University!

RAMS duo Tom and Drew Humberstone have been picked by Oxford University for next month’s Varsity match against Cambridge.

Tom, who studies at Jesus College, will start at fly-half having previously starred in the 38-16 victory in 2018, when he scored a try and had a personal points tally of 18 thanks to five conversions and a penalty.

He was also in the side which went down 15-0 in the most recent clash, back in 2019.

Since joining Rams at the start of the 2017/18 campaign, Tom has racked up 154 points made up of two tries, 49 conversions and six penalties.

Meanwhile, Tom’s brother Drew will make his maiden Varsity appearance outside him at inside centre. He studies at Wolfson and started playing for Rams the following season.

He has impressed at both stand-off and inside centre in firstly helping us to the National Two South title and then to the runners-up spot in our maiden National One campaign.

Drew has 10 tries, 15 conversions and three penalties in his 89 points to date.

The Oxford side is skippered by No. 8 George Messum and includes 12 of the side beaten in 2019.

The Varsity game will take place at Leicester Tigers’ Welford Park stadium and kicks off at 3.30pm on Sunday, July 4.

It will be the 139th fixture between the two sides, with Cambridge having won 64, Oxford 60 and 14 draws.

The women’s Varsity game kicks off at 1pm.
