Summary:

Hendo joined Rams fresh from Berkshire Under 20s County Cup glory at the start of the 2014/15 season, opening his try account in the 52-17 victory at Chard and adding another in the 51-15 success at Old Redcliffians as Mike Tewkesbury’s men finally claimed National Three South West glory.

Another two tries came as Rams hauled themselves to safety in their maiden campaign in National Two South, in the club’s first away win at Level Four (37-12 at Southend) and in the pre-Christmas 41-39 thriller at Chinnor.

Ben’s try-scoring output increased dramatically the following year as he grabbed a then season’s-best of nine.

His first came in the 31-20 home win against Barnstaple, the next in the 37-17 victory at Bury St Edmunds and a third before the New Year in the narrow 25-24 defeat to visitors Bishop’s Stortford.

It was from the second game of February he really put his foot down, though, grabbing six tries in eight games thanks to a try at Barnes (36-22), another at Cinderford (25-12) and then doubles against Stortford (33-36) and Worthing (43-27).

The hooker matched his tally the following year, starting with a brace in the 47-19 home cruise against Broadstreet, and adding another at Wimbledon (24-13) and a double at Canterbury (40-15) before Christmas.

He started 2018 with back-to-back scores against Worthing (39-26) and Chinnor (29-31), and ended the season with two more in the last three games at home to Canterbury (21-14) and Henley (51-0).

It was the title-winning campaign of 2018/19 where Hendo enjoyed a quite staggering try-scoring campaign – dotting down an amazing 21 times!

He crossed in the opener against Canterbury (44-15), twice the next week at London Irish Wild Geese (41-10) and made it four in five games at home to Bury St Edmunds (47-21).

After a couple of try-less weeks, Hendo bagged a brace at home to Tonbridge Juddian (33-18), and from the start of November he went on a remarkable roll by scoring six weeks in a row.

He crossed at home to Dings Crusaders (33-15), at Taunton (35-30) in a cracker, snared a double at home to Worthing (41-12), went over at Redruth (32-14), dotted down at home to Clifton in a 26-19 win and then grabbed a try in the game he referred to as his worst memory at Birmingham & Solihull (53-0).

He enjoyed a perfect day in his 100th appearance by scoring against Old Albanian (36-21), and then scored three in a row against Barnes (48-14), at Guernsey (59-8) and TJs (19-25).

A double came at Dings (48-19) - including a stunning individual effort - his penultimate at Worthing (53-7) and he made it 21 for the season in the title-winning game at Clifton (45-21).

And in Rams’ first season in National One, Hendo went over against Hull Ionians (36-8), Sale (26-19) and in the Friday night classic at Chinnor (21-17).
