Rampant Rams put Abbey to the sword!

Both sides were ready early and looking to put down a marker for the rest of the league season. The first 15 minutes was very stop/start with Abbey picking up a couple of injuries. Both sides made a few handling errors, but 'Ensians got into their stride quicker with the first try coming from sustained pressure from the pack. A second try followed shortly after as the Ensians offloading game started to expose gaps in the Abbey defence. The game settled into attack/counter attack with good tackling and rucking from both sides and two more scores for Ensians and the much prized bonus point. Abbey kept the pressure on and made a couple of breaks toward the the end of the first half but the Ensians
boys were really getting into their stride, closed them down and started looking forward to a second half with more flowing rugby.

A few tactical changes were made by the coaching staff and the second half began the way the first ended with a quick score from Ensians. From there on it's was all one way traffic with forwards and backs working almost seamlessly together and some real creativity and commitment proving the difference. All said and done the team scored 11 tries by 6 different try scorers with 6 conversions. There were some excellent individual performances but what really made the difference was the way the boys worked as a team.

All credit to the Abbey boys who were slightly light on numbers and lost a couple of key players to injury during the game; they stuck to the task and tackled to the end.

Final score 67-0 to Ensians, and a well deserved 5 points.
