Second game in and the season continues to goes to plan.

For the u14s second game of the season, a good test as Newbury visited us at OBR. A good test as whilst this was a friendly they are a side who also compete in Div1 of the Berkshire league, thus offering a good early benchmark opportunity. However, both sides were slightly hobbled by the World Cup (ironically) with many players taking trips to Cardiff and Wembley to watch some of the pool games. In the end Newbury came with just 15 and we had 20, with pre-arranged agreement that we would lend subs if, as and when needed.

The game was played in great spirit and we were even allowed the hallowed turf of the 1st team pitch, our first opportunity to use it as Juniors. Pleased to say the Ensians boys acquitted themselves well on the big pitch, as usual great running from Dan Bennett running in a hat-trick and kicking 5 over the posts to make him high scorer for the day. Great work again also from new players, Adam, Joshua, Ted C and Jake - Adam also managing to pop one down over the line. But it was a team performance with all playing their part, handling was exceptional and supporting play also very good, we looked and played like a team. The end score may flatter and make the game look one sided, but there were certainly testing moments from Newbury, our defence when pushed however was also fantastic and will be certainly needed as the season continues.

Many thanks to Linus, Louis SC, Joshua and Mathew who all took turns in the Newbury strip, all part of the rugby spirit.

Final Score 47-10
