Our opening game in the BYL and with Windsor known to be always strong, it was never going to be easy.

We selected the full 22 we were allowed to take to Windsor, we still have a couple of players out with injuries but such is the strength we have that it still looked a pretty formidable squad. Indeed some very strong players could not be included on this one, selection for League games this season is going to be one of the hardest areas, especially as we continue to grow.

After a strong performance in a friendly at High Wycombe the Sunday before, we knew the boys were ready for some competition, but Windsor are always a strong side and indeed it was they who struck first with an early try. The first half was a back and forth affair with both sides defending well, but Ensians stuck in and scored 2 tries and Windsor one other, but in converting 1 of their's it was the hosts ahead by 12-10 at the half time whistle.

Team talk by Stanners was finely judged, the boys after all were doing little wrong and Windsor were having to work harder to defend us than we were them, the score showed us behind but just to keep doing what we were doing and the game would come back. Sure enough early in the second half continued strong running from Lewis and Roan (amongst others) piled on the pressure and we managed to cross the line, taking the lead for the first time in the game at 15-12. Still too close for comfort though and a further tense period followed with both sides refusing to give an inch.

Finally though Windsor faltered and the final 10-12 minutes saw another 4 tries go in by Ensians, 2 converted to take the comfortable lead we would rather have had sooner. Credit to Windsor they did come back once more in the last few minutes to test our defence again and they never gave up. The scoreline may flatter as for the most part it was a close and competitive game, credit to all who took to the pitch.

Final Score 39-12
