The passing of Kevin Flynn,after a lengthy illness,comes as a blow not just to Sue,Jez,Nick and their families but to all members and supporters of Rams. For many fathers,introducing his two sons to the game and seeing them through to senior rugby would be enough of a contribution to a club.Kevin’s contribution was of an entirely different order.Besides being President of the Sports Club,with overall supervision of our affairs,during the 1990s Kevin held the following committee posts : 13-17 Group Manager for three years , followed by Colts Manager,Sponsorship Secretary,Clubhouse Manager,Sports Club Representative and Facilities Manager.For eleven years,from 2005, he then represented the club on the Berkshire RFU Committee.Living in Charvil as he did,in later years the watering of pitches with Sid Dunn became one of his roles. Life Membership scarcely seemed adequate recognition for such service.Members such as Kevin are few and far between.It goes without saying that his family will be in the thoughts of many of us at this difficult time.
