Year joined: 2006
Role: VP, former International Ticket Secretary, and Burns Supper co-organizer with Mike Gorman.
Best rugby memory: I haven’t missed attending a Calcutta Cup match in 18 years. The last few have been more than memorable!
Worst rugby memory: What comes around goes around. Getting pumped 0-20 in this fixture at Murrayfield in 2014. The walk back to Princess Street in the lashing rain was as miserable as it gets.
Favourite food: The T-bone they serve at McKirdy’s butchers and steakhouse in Edinburgh.
Favourite drink: Royal Lochnagar – 17-year-old blended whisky. It’s from my home distillery.
Favourite travel destination: Western Cape of South Africa
Favourite Rams try: Jak Rossiter crossing the line in the final moments to secure our win at Dry Leas in January 2019. It was one of the greatest ever days at our club.
Favourite ever try: To be said in a Bill McLaren accent “Pick-up by Jeffrey, Jeffrey to Armstrong, Armstrong nicely out to Gavin Hastings, Gavin Hastings with the kick through, on goes Stanger, Stanger could be there. It’s a try! A magnificent try for the 21-year-old!”
Favourite ever player(s): Alun Wyn Jones
Favourite current player: Finn Russell
Other hobbies: Hiking with Claire. I enjoy investing in wine and have completed by WSET Level Two.
Favourite TV show: Modern family
Favourite musician: Taylor Hawkins (RIP)
Favourite song: Love Spreads (The Stone Roses)
Favourite rugby ground(s): The Greenyards (Melrose RFC - the home of Rugby 7s)
Second team: Glasgow Warriors
Favourite other sports: Love going to the cricket. Enjoyed watching my daughter playing Netball too.
One rule change you'd make in rugby: How much more enjoyable the professional game would be without the TMO process.
Best thing about Rams RFC: It’s the complete package (vision, leadership, culture, community and belonging).
