20 QUESTIONS WITH...MATT MAXWELL

Senior squad and marketing manager and occasional Flag Dude!

Year joined: 2010.

Role: Marketing and Senior Squad Manager.

Occasional ‘Flag Dude’.

Best rugby memory: I’ve been lucky to be involved in two promotion-winning sides as a manager with RAMS which will live with me forever – but winning the OBB league Div. 2 with my U16s and playing one game with Charlie on Boxing Day are standouts.

Worst rugby memory: Probably playing 20 minutes of the first half and 20 of the second with no memory of any of it (including the half-time talk) playing for Hatfield Poly in the morning before the France vs England game in the 1991 – having been double knee dropped by my own fullback cover tackling the opposition winger.

No HeadCase protocols then – very glad we have them now!

Favourite food: Chinese – followed by anything from the OBR kitchen as I seem to eat there more during the week than home.

Favourite drink: Coffee.

Favourite travel destination: Antigua – Cocobay. Heaven!!

Favourite Rams try: Wow that’s hard, but Jak’s try vs Henley is the one. The build-up pre-game in the changing room was electric, the buzz in the dugout massive and the support from the #RAMILY outstanding.

Favourite ever try: Jason Robinson in the 2003 World Cup.

Favourite ever player(s): My Dad (Saracens 1959-60) and Charlie Maxwell.

Favourite current player: Any and all of the boys/men and girls/ladies at RAMS!

Other hobbies: Errrrrr???

Favourite TV show: Lucifer.

Favourite musician: At the moment I’m enjoying listening to Tedeschi Trucks Band and Tenille Townes.

Favourite song: Free by Ultra Nate.

Favourite rugby ground(s): Redruth has a massive feeling of history and a lovely welcome (off the pitch).

And then OBR obviously.

Second team: Saracens.

Favourite other sports: Cricket.

One rule change you'd make in rugby: I’d try and make the laws more transparent (I’m glad to have an Ash in the dugout to try and explain decisions).

Also, I’d try and have a doctor available for all Level Three games to ascertain if a player is injured (or not) to limit gamesmanship in subs.

Best thing about Rams RFC: #RAMILY - nuff said!
