Another bonus victory for Sonning men

REDINGENSIANS 32 BURY ST EDMUNDS 18
Redingensians Rams swept aside Bury St Edmunds in a blistering last quarter to record their second successive bonus win after trailing 18-10 at the break.
It took Rams out of the relegation zone and delighted Rams CEO Gary Reynolds said: “Each week the lads are now showing they can compete at this level. They are beginning to believe in themselves.”
“The return of key players from injury is helping. There is more good news with the likelihood of lock Tom Bryson back by Christmas.”
“But there are still areas to improve on such as decision making and concentration. Lapses cost us 12 points in a five minute first half spell.”
Rams started brightly with two tries in the opening ten minutes after sharp back play created chances for centre Steve Bryant and full-back George Drury, who opened his account for the club..
Scott Lyle replied with a penalty, but Rams failed to make the most of further pressure. That allowed Bury back in the game with two tries in five minutes from lively winger Matt Hema.
He profited from poor defence by Rams, his first effort coming after a 60 yard run before he rounded off good work by the forwards for the second.
A Lyle penalty increased Bury’s advantage further by the break and when Rams hooker Ben Henderson was sin-binned after 53 minutes it looked bleak for the Sonning men.
But down to 14, they increased their tempo and fought back inspired by the introduction of Joe Duffelen for his first appearance of the season after injury.
They narrowed the arrears in the 62nd minute when outstanding prop James Baker rounded off a series of pick and drives.
The Bury defence was being stretched and tries from Olly Foxley and Samir Kharbouch quickly followed as Rams’ superior fitness began to tell.
Another good day for lowly Rams ended with replacement Matt Weller crashing over at the final whistle.
