Another international shirt has been kindly donated to the club but this time a Wales Under 16 shirt presented by centre and Redingensians youth player, John Williams.
John started playing at Redingensians at U7s, having followed his father, Vets stalwart, Gareth Williams around for years: probably since before he could walk! At Christmas 2003 he won "most improved" player. He was also age group player of the year twice (most recently at Under 16s) and players' player. A player of real talent, John was invited to join the County School of Rugby at U13s and was then invited to join London Irish initially in the Silver group, then their Gold group. He is now on an Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (AASE) with London Irish, based at St Paul’s Catholic College Sunbury. He has played for Irish at Harrow (twice) and Bristol.

Through playing with the Welsh Exiles two years ago John was invited for assessment for Wales U16 and played at London Welsh, Ebbw Vale and Pontypool in front of Welsh selectors He was selected by Wales under 16s to play against the USA U17 (in which he scored a try) and Scotland at the Wellington festival, and against Saracens U17s at Allianz Park, scoring twice. Wales won all their games.

As a result John was invited to join both the Dragons and the Scarlets but having chosen to stay with London Irish, John has been invited to England elite U17s residential camp. We believe that he will represent England U17s this year, and he has also been invited to train with Wales U18s.
