HOOKER Harry Bicknell was at the double with a star performance to help Berkshire Under 20s defeat Warwickshire 43-12 in their clash at Maidenhead.
The hosts took an early lead as Reading University prop Archie Downing – who has featured for Rams Development XV in their past two games with Oxford University and the British Army – went over, Windsor’s Josh Madden with the extras.
Warwickshire levelled matters on 12 minutes, but Bicknell, the summer signing from Windsor who leads the Dev XV try-scorers this term, restored his side’s lead soon after.
Further tries from Reading Abbey’s Leo Clifford and Windsor ace William Moss extended the advantage, Madden’s second conversion making it 24-7 at the interval.
Bicknell (pictured) doubled his tally on 48 minutes, Madden again on target, before Rams’ scrum-half Louis Roumignac – whose performance was hailed by coach Seb Reynolds – crossed the whitewash for another converted try.
Things got even better for the home side when University student Alec Formela dotted down, and while Warwickshire claimed a consolation just before the hour-mark, it was nothing more as their opponents closed out the game convincingly.
Berkshire return to Maidenhead to host Surrey in another friendly this Sunday.
