Seers and Kidd among 19 chosen in provisional County Championship squad!

A TOTAL of 19 Rams players have been included in Berkshire’s provisional 38-man squad for next month’s Bill Beaumont County Championship matches.

Berkshire are in Division Three Pool Two, hosting Middlesex at Old Bath Road on Saturday, May 7, and then travelling to Sussex a fortnight later.

Leading the Rams’ contingent is fit-again Niall Kidd, who is joined among the front row by hookers Max Hayman and Ollie Moffitt, as well as young prop Harry Etwell.

Ollie Taylor – who passed 150 first-team caps for the club earlier this season – Colin Thomson and Omar Ellaboudy are included in the engine room, while there are places in the back row for Vince Everitt, Josh Collis, Liam Goodison and Ross Crame.

Alex Sparkes and Sam Boyland both make the cut at scrum-half, while a trio of stand-offs in the form of Alex Seers, Steffan James and Sam Nicholls are also in the group.

Powerful centres Axel Kalling-Smith – fresh from helping Sweden to victory in Latvia last weekend – and Terence Babarinsa are included, with the last of the Rams’ players, Kieran Leicester equally adept at playing in midfield or anywhere in the back three.

Newbury have the second highest number of representatives in the squad, their seven made up of Michael Duppa-Miller, Michael Klichowiz, Will Osborne, Oscar Padden, Dan Thorne, Jamal Watson and Josh Winfield.

Five Bracknell players – Ben Yates, Chris Laidler, Noah Cannon, Brad Walters and Ben Radford – are included, along with Jake Leach, Sol Wallis-Robinson and Charlie Shackleford from Reading Abbey.

Todd Muil and Phil Wells are both Maidenhead men, while the final two players are from the University of Reading – Ryan Lomas, who has also featured for Rams recently, and Tom Westdropp.

On the coaching side of things, Seb Reynolds, Owen Root and Danny Batty will be joined by Maidenhead’s Will Runciman.
