Maidenhead 2’s 45 - 8 Redingensians Centaurs

First and foremost hats off to Maidenhead for getting this game off the ground in the first place. They marshalled volunteers to manually clear the snow from their AGP, enabling 3 games to take place back to back.

In the event it proved a challenging afternoon for the Cents, although the visitors stuck to their guns and acquitted themselves well. For the first 15 minutes it was nip and tuck, with both sides trading penalties. Cents penalty scored by J Dias. The Cents then lost two fly halves in quick succession as Leicester then Dainton (previously 15) took knocks to the head. This caused wholesale changes in the Cents camp. Maids ran in two try’s shortly before half time to make it 17 - 3.

Whilst Maids ran in a further 4 try’s in the second half this didn’t reflect the balance of play. A Dias scored a well deserved try following a period of forward domination. During the last 10 minutes of the game Cents dominated territory, as their scrum gained the ascendancy, but just couldn’t get over the whitewash.

Cents can’t be faulted for attitude and application, but on the day beaten by a better side.
