PRE-ORDERS for Nigel Sutcliffe’s Centenary Book can now be placed – with the book due to be published in time for the anniversary weekend at the start of October.
Archivist and author Nigel has trawled through the first 100 years of the club to pull together a wonderful piece of work dating back to the founding of the club in 1924.
He charts the destination of what started as Old Redingensians following Leslie Poutney’s address to an audience at The Talbot Café through to the modern day, with newspaper clippings from the local media going back to the first-ever game against Newbury Grammar School.
There are plenty of other interesting features including a section on the club’s international stars, homegrown heroes and the history of the junior section.
Some fantastic photos from resident snappers Paul Clark and Tim Pitfield help brighten the book – beautifully designed by Matt Maxwell – while appendices include a full list of captains, the top league try-scorers and more.
The book costs £50 and pre-orders can be requested by emailing janette.tichband@ramsrugby.com
