COLTS SEEK NATIONAL CUP SEMI-FINAL SPOT

COLTS SEEK NATIONAL CUP SEMI-FINAL SPOT

Rich Ashton6 Feb 2024 - 08:30

Free entry as Ivybridge visit Old Bath Road in last eight clash!

RAMS Colts will play a National Cup quarter-final for the first time since 2011 when they welcome Ivybridge to Old Bath Road on Sunday (2pm).

A fantastic 13-5 victory against Old Patesians in the last 16 a fortnight ago was a fourth win in the competition for Dave Cox’s side, after they previously beat Marlow 40-19, Beaconsfield 36-15 and Marlborough 45-5.

Their campaign began at Marlow where tries from Matt Cox (two), Obi Nwachuku, Theo Pett-Ridge, Jack Mander and a penalty try did the damage, Cox also slotting four conversions.

Ollie Ireland, Paddy Brown, Jayden Benham, Luke Thorpe, Jack Taylor and Nicolas Dumi crossed the whitewash at Beaconsfield as Cox landed three more kicks, while Benham, Aaron Preston, Taylor, Pett-Ridge, Callum du Preez, Jake Scott and Thorpe were the try-scorers in a terrific triumph at Marlborough.

Despite falling behind in their most recent game against Old Pats, a first-half du Preez reply followed by Brown’s try and a Cox penalty secured a spot in the last eight for a side who are also top of OBB Division One with six wins from six.

However, Ivybridge are a force to be reckoned with, the Devonians having defeated some of the best of the south-west in Wadebridge Camels (25-10), Brixham (33-21), Redruth (21-15) and Chew Valley (27-12) to set-up a mouth-watering battle.

Entry for the game is free with food and drink on sale as the stars of the future look to continue their magical run.

With Rams returning to National One action at Bishop’s Stortford the day before it is a cracking weekend of rugby – and we look forward to seeing the Ramily in support!
