NO. 8 Cian Tappan continued the South African dominance of the Colts’ end-of-season awards as he collected the Coaches’ Player gong.
With Declan Grobbelaar and Teagan Strydom receiving the Players’ and Captain’s trophies respectively, hard-carrying Cian made it a hat-trick of Springbok triumphs.
The Oratory School skipper – who led his side to County Cup success in both the 15-a-side and Sevens format this year – has proved a terrific addition to the back row since joining the club in 2023.
A formidable ball-carrier and turnover guru, Cian’s highlights included a brace in the pouring rain at Oxford Harlequins back in January, before a 30-metre run-in during a crucial OBB Division One success at Amersham & Chiltern.
That victory proved crucial in helping Rams make it back-to-back unbeaten title triumphs, a 24-0 away win followed by further victories against Bracknell and also-unbeaten Windsor as Dave Cox’s troops secured back-to-back silverware.
