ESHER IN TOWN FOR FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS

ESHER IN TOWN FOR FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS

Rich Ashton12 Mar - 16:30

Development XV kick off the weekend against Cardinals!

FRIDAY Night Lights returns to Old Bath Road in two days’ time as the Development XV host Esher Cardinals (7.45pm).

Floodlit fixtures always provide an extra dose of excitement, and there is no better way to kick-start the weekend than to get along for what should be a terrific tussle.

Rams went down 35-7 to reigning Inter-Services champions British Army in their last encounter, previously pushing Oxford University (24-12) and current Raging Bull Shield table-toppers Richmond Vikings (13-5) in two hard-fought battles.

Prior to that they turned on the style with a season’s best performance when downing Army Under 23s 54-0, a victory which followed 19-5 and 26-10 successes against Royal Air Force and Cambridge University on the back of a 31-10 reverse at home to Cardiff Uni.

Esher’s second string sit fifth in the Raging Bull standings, with three wins from 10 games to date.

They were most recently beaten 43-26 by Ampthill 1881, though were in top form with a 52-24 triumph against Richmond Saxons (3rd XV) beforehand.

Narrow defeats to Blackheath Heathens (39-31) and Barnes 2nd XV (31-28) preceded that success, Esher having also defeated Saxons 33-26 back in October.

Losses to Heathens (54-19), Ampthill (47-29) and Vikings (71-35) came after an opening 33-24 victory against Barnes.

Entry for Friday night’s fun is free, with food and drink available for what should prove to be an entertaining evening as the Development XV look to get back to winning ways in their penultimate fixture of the season.
