RAMS are delighted to announce one of our former players, Michael Etete, has been awarded a professional contract with Premiership side Bath Rugby.

Mikey was a popular figure at Old Bath Road having joined the club while studying at Reading University, the powerful second row – who is also capable of playing on the flank – making 10 appearances during the National Two South title-winning season of 2018-19.

His solitary try for the club came during the 41-12 home victory against Worthing Raiders, while he went onto feature in the club’s maiden National One game at Cambridge, helping the side to a thrilling 36-32 victory in September 2019.

Having moved up north to continue his education at Leeds Beckett University, ‘Big Mike’ made six appearances for Leeds Tykes last season, assisting his side in securing their third-tier survival.

And his potential has now been recognised at Bath following a three-week trial, with Head of Rugby Johann van Graan stating: “We have been really pleased with Michael's attitude and application so far in pre-season.

"He has outstanding physical attributes and a strong desire to develop all facets of his game."
