JAK Rossiter’s magnificent season received further recognition as he was selected on the right wing in the National One Team of the Year.
The Pangbourne College alumni enjoyed a campaign to savour as he finished as Rams’ top try-scorer, running in 20 in as many games to take his first-team tally for the club to 78.
Jak was also the second highest try-scorer among backs in National One, only behind Cambridge’s Kwaku Asiedu (33), and fifth overall behind Cambridge, Cinderford and Sale hookers Ben Brownlie (28), Nathan Taylor (24) and Josh Brown (21) respectively.
There were plenty of highlights throughout Jak’s campaign – he became the first Rams’ player to score four tries in a game in the third tier at home to Hull, the 59 team points scored in the fixture also a record only later matched against Taunton – another game he scored in.
Rossiter also grabbed a brilliant hat-trick when Leeds Tykes visited Old Bath Road, and he doubled up against Chinnor in Week Two having done the same for the Titans against Esher Cardinals on the opening Saturday.
A further brace arrived at home to Birmingham Moseley in Round Eight as Rams embarked on their best-ever start to a league season, ultimately ending at 11 wins.
Jak’s other tries came against Bishop’s Stortford (a), Darlington Mowden Park (home and away), Rosslyn Park (a), Plymouth Albion (home and away), Sale (h) and Hull (a).
Aside from claiming the Top Try-Scorer Trophy at the end-of-season Ball, Jak was also presented with his Honours Cap following six superb seasons with the club.
He becomes the third Rams player to be picked in the National League Rugby website’s select XV, following second-row Dan Swain and flanker James McRae into the fold.
