SIX Rams Under 18 Sirens enjoyed an American Dream as they combined with players from Bracknell in defeating Pennsylvania-based touring side Downington 22-15 on Monday evening.
Having impressed for Berkshire recently, Lucy Simpson led the way for the Bracknell/Rams side, scoring a hat-trick and adding a conversion.
The other try was scored by another young Siren, Izzy Bruton, while the other girls to feature were Paige Hopkins, Katie Sollit, Morgan Hadaway and Ffion Kemp.
At the end of a fiercely competitive game, Downington voted Morgan as the back-of-the-match for the hosts, with Lucy taking the honours among the forwards.
A number of the junior Sirens will be representing Berkshire in three 40-minute matches against Middlesex, Kent and Buckinghamshire at Twyford Avenue, Wasps, this Sunday.
The Under 16 boys played out an extraordinary game with Witney which ended with more than 100 points being scored.
Due to availability and traffic issues for the away side, the game was played as 13-a-side and Rams got off to a blistering start with two tries in the opening two minutes.
They continued on their merry way to run in another six before the break, Pat and Joseph both with braces as Theo, Isaiah, Noah and Josh also crossed the whitewash.
The two squads were mixed up even more in the second period and Theo went onto score a hat-trick for Witney, Noah, Joseph and Tom also touching down as guests for the Oxfordshire side.
For Rams, there were second-half tries for Pat, Fin, Cam and Will S as their side ran out 74-32 winners.
With the Colts’ and U15’ games cancelled, the only other junior action saw the U14s turn in a terrific performance to earn a victory at home to Marlow.
There is no youth rugby this weekend due to Easter, although a number of Rams players are expected to be named in the Berkshire Under 20s squad as they travel to Essex for the Division Two semi-final of the Jason Leonard County Championship.
