Rams rebounded the following season and won promotion straight back with a runners-up finish in Berkshire, Dorset & Wiltshire One, Dave leading the way with 114 points to finish as top-scorer.

Highlights included six conversions and a try against Corsham (52-7) and a 21-point haul in the 41-11 victory against Marlborough, made up of a try, two conversions and four penalties.

Dave was in good form in the early part of the following year before handing over the kicking duties to Greg Way.

His final success with the boot came in the 25-0 Southern Counties South victory at Corsham in what ended up as a title-winning season of 2000/01.
