NEW signing Morgan MacRae is organising a phenomenal challenge hoping to raise more than £15,000 for a variety of charities.
The hooker, who can also play in the back row, has set-up the Arch to Arc challenge, in which his brother Iwan and four other mates will run 330km in just eight days.
The event starts at Marble Arch in London on Saturday morning (8.30am), with the run to Paris kicking off at 9am.
The fantastic five will then average 47km per day before reaching the Arc de Triomphe on Friday, July 19 – the equivalent of running eight marathons in seven days.
Morgan and his girlfriend Kitty, who helped save his life by performing CPR for eight minutes following a cardiac arrest last year, will also be running at various stages while also driving the van and providing supplies to the runners.
Former Oratory School and Swansea University alumni Morgan has completed an incredible comeback in the past 12 months, becoming the first semi or professional player to perform with an S-ICD defibrillator fitted as he featured six times for Henley Hawks at the back end of the past National Two East campaign.
More than £12,500 has already been raised to split between four charities – British Heart Foundation, Brave Mind, Cardiac Risk in the Young and St George’s Hospital, Tooting – with hopes that the remainder of the target can be reached before the group arrives in Paris.
Anyone who wants to run the first part of the challenge is welcome to join on Saturday, while any donations would be greatly received.
