MATCH PREVIEW: "DARLINGTON AS DANGEROUS AS EVER"

MATCH PREVIEW: "DARLINGTON AS DANGEROUS AS EVER"

Rich Ashton25 Apr - 16:00

Seb's take on tomorrow's opponents ahead of season finale!

SEB Reynolds labelled Zach Clow ‘fantastic’ with the back three star set to reach 50 Rams appearances at Darlington Mowden Park tomorrow (3pm).

The speedster made a sensational debut in the 50-31 Chinnor Friday Night Lights game back in February, 2023, signing full time from London Scottish later in the summer before going on to hit a sensational half century.

The Cardiff Metropolitan University graduate has racked up 31 tries in his 49 games to date, becoming a fan favourite with his ‘Rams horn’ celebration and personable nature.

The only ever-present this season as he completes the full house tomorrow, Seb said: “We talked with Zach in the summer about bringing a consistency to his game – knowing if he had a little drop in form we would stick with him as he’s such a threat, and he’s been fantastic.

“He’s had a solid year and it’s great for him to reach his 50.”

At the other end of his Rams’ career is wing Nat Arnold, starting for the first time in the North-East as the DoR added: “He’s snuck under the radar, but he’s got real quality and his resume having been to Millfield, Bath Academy, there’s something there.

"He’s got lovely touches on the ball and has a licence to go and show what he can do this weekend – he’s earnt his spot and there’s no pressure.”

DMP have endured a difficult season but will be looking to finish their campaign on a high – a plethora of players deserting the team mid-season as DoR Garry Law has done his best to keep things afloat.

Tomorrow is set to be his last dance and Seb paid tribute to the Scotsman, saying: “He’s been a fantastic player, then going onto DoR, player-coach, he does it all.

“ I think he’s tried to hang up the boots before but keeps getting drawn back and he’s just quality – if it is his final game I wish him all the best on a fantastic career.

“It’s been a tough time for Darlington, but I give them great credit for sticking at it – watching them they’re still the same threat they’ve always been.

“They try and play from anywhere, they’re energetic, have plenty of talent in attack and we won’t underestimate the challenge.”

As Rams seek a victory which could yet secure a fourth-placed finish, they were boosted by the news skipper Max Hayman will be staying next season and Seb was delighted to say: “He has come such a long way and is a prime example of what we try and do at the club.

“We identified him as the next Ben Henderson and the two of them are fantastic hookers who have taken the club to new heights.

“Max took on the captaincy at the start of the season and it’s wonderful he’s agreed to stay – he feels he’s got unfinished business and wants to achieve with this club.

“There’s nothing better in sport than achieving what you want to achieve at a certain place, and we want to go to the next level with him a fundamental part of that.”
