MATCH PREVIEWS: 'IT SHOULD BE A FANTASTIC COUPLE OF GAMES'

DoR looks ahead to away days at Oxford University and Sale FC!

SEB Reynolds exclaimed ‘what more could you want’ as he looked ahead to an exciting double-header this weekend.

Rams Development XV begin things with a trip to Oxford University this evening (7.15pm), before the first XV face a huge test at Sale on Saturday (2.30pm) as they look to keep their position at the head of National One.

The Berkshire side produced one of their best displays of the season when overcoming The Dogs 33-0 back in September, but with tomorrow’s hosts having disposed of former table-toppers Richmond last time out, Seb is under no illusions about the task at hand – especially with Sale second row Pete Vickers admitting ‘we owe them one’.

The DoR said: “They’re a side who have found some form and a balance to the way they play in recent weeks, and they had a very good result against a strong Richmond side last time out.

“These games are always exciting and it’s anyone’s prerogative to build them up how they want – it’s a fantastic home game for them at Heywood Road and everyone will be looking forward to it.

“It’s a great place to play rugby and we can’t wait to get up there. The home game was one which went the way we wanted it to, but it’s way in the past now and the season’s moved on into the new year and a tough road trip.”

Rams are bolstered for the trip up north by the return of hooker Morgan MacRae and Army ace Solodrau Radianirova, with Seb pleased to have their energy back among the squad.

He continued: “Solo’s been away with work for the past couple of games, but he’s such a quality operator and it’s great to see his smiling face back at the ground.

“Morgan’s done well to recover from his knock – he had a breakthrough performance a couple of weeks ago, so it’s also brilliant to have him back.”

Ahead of the Sale showdown is tonight’s trip to Iffley Road, and the head coach is relishing an extra dose of rugby.

He concluded: “It’s going to be a big test for a true Development side – we’ve got youngsters who’ve been at the club for many years, prominent players from Reading University like James Gilman, George Tomlinson and Harry Judd to name just a few, and then some experience from the likes of Jack Gaylor to add some balance and stability at No. 9.

“It’s very exciting – as coaches we’re able to go to both games and what more could you want!

“It’s great for all the players involved and especially for our youngsters at Oxford, it will be a top experience for them.”
