RAMS turned on the style to run in six tries during a sensational 40-10 National One success at Bishop’s Stortford.
It was a fourth consecutive bonus-point win for the visitors, who took an early lead when a powerful maul ended with hooker Max Hayman touching down on the left.
Alex Seers made no mistake with the conversion, and Rams grabbed a second shortly afterwards when their defence forced a turnover at the breakdown and Jak Rossiter zipped down the right-hand flank of what was an immaculate playing surface.
While the in-form wing was unable to go all the way, his inside ball was hoovered up by Ollie Cole to cross the whitewash for his side’s second try.
The hosts got on the scoreboard when Rams were caught off-side in front of the posts, Dan Cole making no mistake with a penalty from the 22.
But the away side replied swiftly and Hayman collected his second, the hooker running in from 30 metres out following a simply majestic long pass from Seers.
The fly-half added the extras, and the bonus-point was wrapped up before the interval as some patient work in the Stortford 22 ended with Vince Everitt cutting a fine line to dot down.
Seers’ conversion pushed his side into a 26-3 lead, and while the Hertfordshire men rallied at the end of the half, some terrific Rams defence ensured they took a hefty advantage into the interval.
It was the visitors who moved further ahead with the first score of the second period, another powerful maul putting them on the front foot and well into the Stortford 22, Cole then spinning the ball wide for Rossiter to cut in from the right and grab his seventh try in three games.
Things got even better for the away side as a sixth try came via Josh Collis, yet another powerful surge from the pack ending with the flanker twisting and turning before getting the ball down.
Stortford, though, continued to give their all, and the Rams defence was placed under considerable pressure at times, only for their energy and skill to force the home side into mistakes.
The red wall was eventually breached late on, however, as the hosts went through the phases in the Rams’ 22 before Josh Stannard cut a nice line to take an inside ball and touch down to the left of the posts.
The conversion was successful and while Bishop’s Stortford tried to further reduce the deficit, they could not add to their tally as Rams left with an impressive 30-point victory.
