Top versus bottom didn’t spring any surprises last weekend with Rams running out comfortable 64-7 winners against Chard. One way or another I think it’s unlikely that Rams will be taking on Chard next season.
The real surprise came at Old Redcliffians, where the hosts who are languishing in the drop zone managed to beat high flying Hornets. Hornets were perhaps a bit rusty having not played in the last 4 weeks.
Exmouth won the Devon derby with a crushing victory over Brixham. In my view this now makes the league a two horse race between Rams and Exmouth for the top sport, with Rams being 11 clear at the moment.
Other results of note were Old Pats defeating Newton Abbot to ease their positon up the table and away from the relegation places. Barnstaple also pulled away with a home victory over Bournemouth. However with only 8 points separating 12th from 8th none of the clubs below Old Cents can rest easy.

Moving on to Week 17, there are a couple of interesting fixtures towards the bottom of the League. A victory for Bournemouth overly lowly Weston Super Mare would be expected, it would also leave Weston adrift of the other sides in the bottom third of the league. Chard will be all bit relegated if they lose at home to Exmouth. I’m afraid I can’t see any other result for the Somerset team.
There’s yet another Devon derby with Brixham hosting Barnstaple. Whilst Barum have picked up of last I’d fully expect Brixham to bounce back from their two recent defeats.
The final fixture of note is perhaps the most important of the week. Bracknell host Rams and will no doubt be looking for revenge for the 27-3 defeat they suffered at Rams hands in the reverse fixture earlier this season. Bracknell are currently 24 points behind Rams, lying 5th in the league, however form can be a fickle friend when it comes to local derbies. The players, Coaches and Committee would encourage as many Rams supporters to get over to Bracknell on Saturday to give the boys as much support as possible in what should be a cracking match.
