ROSSLYN Park became the first team to beat table-toppers Richmond as they claimed a stunning away south-west London derby win 25-17.
Josh Bragman converted a Harry Ledger scorer for Park, only for their hosts to reply with a Callum Grieve three-pointer and a penalty try.
Bragman levelled things with the boot before Joe Luca Smith’s try gave the visitors a 15-10 half-time lead.
A James Corden-Reddy score plus another five points from Bragman had Rosslyn in command, and while Richmond gave themselves hope via a converted Lucas Schmid effort, they could not do any more.
Third-placed Rotherham Titans remain three points behind Rams and now just four adrift of the summit following a hard-fought 29-14 victory against Darlington Mowden Park.
Lloyd Hayes added to his own early try before DMP equalised through Oscar Judge and Harry Read at the end of the first quarter.
There were no further points before the break, and the scores were level again on 65 minutes following converted tries from Titans’ Tomasi Tanumi and Park’s Max Fraine.
It was Rotherham who came on strong, though, a Hayes penalty followed by converted JB Bruzilier try, the scrum-half then sealing the bonus-point as he doubled up at the death.
Blackheath won a high-scoring thriller 39-32 at home to Bishop’s Stortford.
A first-minute Tom Ffitch penalty nudged Club in front, only for the away side to reply with tries from Alex Gilham and Alex Rayment, Chris Bolton adding to the second.
Blackheath hit back as Jake Lloyd touched down, Stortford moving further ahead as Tom Mills kicked a penalty.
A Billy Harding try cut the deficit before Bolton landed a three-pointer, Lloyd’s second, converted by Ffitch, edging Club 20-18 up at the interval.
Two Ffitch penalties and a converted Harding second gave Blackheath some breathing space before David Hayes added to a Declan Murphy score.
Yet Stortford failed to learn their disciplinary lesson, two more penalties enough to repel a late second from Murphy and the extras vis Hayes.
Plymouth Albion remain sixth following a routine 31-3 home win against Dings Crusaders.
Morgan Stone’s early try for Plymouth was replied to by a Jamie Elswood penalty, but from their Albion took control, Craig Duncan and Jake Bond touching down before the break as a Tom Putt conversion made it 17-3.
And with Duncan going onto complete his hat-trick, the Ocean City’s finest completed the job.
Birmingham Moseley – whose game at Sale will be replayed in the new year following a floodlight failure in Round 13 – made it three wins on the bounce with a 27-10 success against Leicester Lions.
A Luke Bouchier penalty put the visitors in front before Tommy Taylor added to an Ollie Allsopp try for 7-3 Mose at the break.
Jack Jolly was on target after Morgan Adderly-Jones touched down for the hosts, but Lions remained in contention after Bouchier landed following a Reuben Logan score.
However, two Jolly penalties kept the hosts in control, and a late James Randall try, converted by Taylor, sealed the deal.
Sedgley Park edged past Sale FC 14-12 to claim the Manchester derby bragging rights.
A Josh Brown score put the Dogs in front before Rhys Henderson’s interception levelled for Sedge before half-time.
A trio of Warren Seals penalties pushed Tigers nine points clear, and while Oli Davies added to a Mark Dixon try with eight minutes remaining, Sale could not complete the comeback.
