RAMS are delighted to announce pre-season games at home to Aberavon and on the road at Taunton Titans as they gear up for the 2025/26 National One campaign.
It will be the third year on the spin Seb Reynolds’ side have taken on Super Rugbi Cymru (formerly Welsh Premiership) outfit Aberavon, with the Wizards in town on Saturday, August 16 (3pm).
Last year’s game between the sides was an absolute thriller, Rams coming from behind four times to snatch a dramatic 35-28 success on the back of tries from Joe Pannese, Ollie Cole, Olise Monye, Ed Hoadley and Harry Stone.
The first encounter between the teams saw the Berkshire side victorious 38-19 as Zach Clow (two), Fraser Honey, Mike Hoyt, Max Hayman and Rowan Grundy dotted down in 2023.
Aberavon finished sixth in the new-look 10-team Welsh league last season, claiming 41 points from 18 games which included six wins.
They were then beaten by eventual champions Newport 40-25 in the quarter-finals of the end-of-season play-offs.
Rams will then head to long-term rivals Taunton Titans on Saturday, August 23 (3pm).
The two clubs have faced each other 16 times in league meetings, with an even 8-8 split across those tussles.
Things were very much in the Somerset men’s favour early on, winning the first seven games before Rams rallied.
The most recent clashes between the sides came in 2023/24, a crazy 41-35 win on the road followed by an excellent 52-17 home victory which saw the hosts cut loose with four tries in the final 10 minutes.
Despite relegation at the end of the season, Taunton bounced back solidly last time out, finishing third in National Two West having won 16, drawn two and lost eight of their 26 matches for a tally of 89 points.
