A 43-28 reverse at Taunton Titans was preceded by narrow losses to Leeds Tykes (22-21), Plymouth Albions (24-22) and Tonbridge Juddians (16-12), along with a heavier reverse to Cambridge (34-7).

There last game of 2021 was a 34-28 home loss to title contenders Sale, coming off the back of a fine 17-13 victory against Rams at Old Bath Road.
That win was a third in four games when it appeared the Well Hall men were turning their season round, having overcome Stortford (16-6) and Taunton (42-19), a heavy defeat at Rosslyn Park (55-14) under the Friday Night lights the only blip during the run.
Near misses had generally been the order of the day before that, a loss at Leeds (27-25) and a home defeat to Plymouth (36-30) coming after a 23-21 triumph at TJs and reverses against Cambridge (15-9), Chinnor (34-28) and Caldy (18-16).
Club had previously picked up their first win of the campaign in week three against DMP (23-14), again on the back of close contests they fell on the wrong side of against Moseley (22-20) and Cinderford (18-15).
While the sit 13th in the table, if they had converted all of their losing bonus-points into victories (14 so far), they would sit in the top three with 90 points to their name.
