Reynolds full of praise for epic second half

Old Elthamians 18 Redingensians Rams 42

Gary Reynolds, the Rams CEO, was full of praise for his men after their big National 2 South win - a seven try blitz of Old Elthamians.
Reynolds said: "They produced a superb second half performance away to the sixth-placed side, scoring four touchdowns into a near gale force wind."
“I felt we wanted it more than they did. Our forwards won the gain line battle, played good phases and set up chances for the backs.”
“They are a good bunch of lads. They work hard at their game, deserve today’s result and deserve to stay up in this league.”
With elements in their favour, it all went to plan for Rams in the first quarter as they raced to 15-0 up with three unconverted tries.
On the scoresheet were man-of-the-match George Drury, Conor Corrigan - his first for the club - and Jamar Richardson, who rounded off a Sean McDermottroe break.
But disaster struck for Rams after 27 minutes when Samir Kharbouch was yellow carded.
Although a Tom White penalty for OEs was immediately cancelled out by Spike Chandler, the home side capitalised on the extra man.
They added two touchdowns through Jay Rudland-Thomas and Craig Dowsett before the break and Rams’ 18-13 lead appeared too fragile to defend in the second half.
But Rams struck first, McDermottroe finishing good work by the pack in the 51st minute.
OEs replied with a try of their own from Lee Nelmes despite Harry Ledger being sin-binned for a dangerous tackle.
The final stages belonged to the visitors with McDermottroe adding his second touchdown and OEs Nelmes receiving a yellow card.
Then Rams' talented bench got to work. Ross Crame forced his way past three defenders to score before Craig Nightingale put the finishing touches to a great day.
He raced 60 metres to touch down and Chandler added the extras to the two five-pointers.
