Aside from a terrific 2018/2019, some outstanding performances and promotion to National 1, the end of season has brought further accolades.

Six Rams players made the starting 15 for The Rugby Paper National 2 South Dream Team. They included:-

  • Jak Rossiter - Wing
  • Andrew “Drew” Humberstone - Inside Centre
  • Tom Vooght - Captain and Flanker
  • Ben Henderson - Hooker
  • Alex Seers - Fly Half
  • James Baker - Tighthead Prop

In addition, forwards Niall Kidd and Jamie Guttridge were close runners-up.

It is a wonderful tribute to the side that 8 of the squad were given recognition for their performances throughout the year.

Last Tuesday, Rams filled BBC’s Rita Green’s Team of the Week slot on Berkshire Radio. Seb, Jak, and Josh answered questions and shared parts of their rugby journeys on air.

The Rugby Paper gave Rams further recognition when Seb shared the Coach of the Year award with Saracen’s Alex Sanderson at the annual awards dinner last Wednesday at Harlequins’ Stoop.

Finally, ex-Rams junior super-star Johnny Williams, now a full-time professional with Newcastle Falcons, got the call-up to the England squad to play the Barbarians at the weekend. Many congratulations to Johnny and all his family on a tremendous achievement.

The last couple of weeks have been a terrific end to an exciting season. The challenge for our 1st XV squad, the Sirens, our other senior men’s teams, and the coaches of our youth section is to trump what we did last year. That is no mean feat and will take considerable dedication and commitment which, fortunately, we have in bucket loads among our volunteers and players. I am looking forward to the next stage of the Rams journey.
