SIX RAMS TO SPEARHEAD COUNTY QUARTER-FINAL CHALLENGE

Rich Ashton20 Mar 2022 - 08:25

Skipper Spencer will lead the way against Surrey!

SIX Rams’ youngsters, spearheaded by skipper Spencer Hayhow, will lead the Berkshire Under 20s charge as they take on Surrey in the Jason Leonard County Championship quarter-final at Old Bath Road this afternoon (2pm, free entry).

Captain Spencer is joined by fellow Ram Harry Etwell in the front row, with the trio completed by Maidenhead’s tight-head prop Toby Dann-Muirhead.

The second row is filled by Ealing Trailfinders Academy man Callum Cooper and the University of Reading’s Lewis Schael, while another Rams’ alumni, Exeter University’s Josh Norman, starts on the blind-side flank.

Josh is partnered at the base of the scrum by Bracknell duo Paul Studd and No. 8 Josh Riles, the latter a two-try scorer against Hampshire in the group phase.

Reading Abbey’s Sol Robinson starts at scrum-half with Matt Smith of Reading Uni outside him, before an all-Rams partnership of Ollie Andrews and Henry Lenthall team up in midfield.

Another Ealing man, Scott Harman, takes the left wing slot, with the final two spots in the starting line-up taken by two more Rams, Adam Porter and the devastating Charlie Robson at full back.

On the bench front-row cover is offered by Reading University’s Frankie Austin and Bracknell man Adam Khan, while Ben Murrell of Oxford Harlequins provides support further back in the pack.

Thatcham’s Leroy Pike and a third Trailfinders’ player, George Makepeace-Cubitt are also available, with the substitutes’ bench completed by Maidenhead’s Adam Price and Reading University’s Cellan Richards.

A quintet of reserves are also included in the squad in case of any last-minute setbacks, with the Uni’s George Alvis, Ben Bolwell, Rob De Allie and Jack Hoskin joined by Maidenhead flyer Avery Smiles-Tyson ready to step into the breach.
