Outside centre impresses ahead of Inter-Services Championship!

FIJIAN flyer Solodrau Radianirova was at the double as the British Army trounced Irish Defence Force 80-8 in their final game before the Inter-Services Championship.

The versatile back, who has featured regularly for the Titans this season, crossed twice in a dominant first half which saw the hosts lead 54-8 at the break.

The Red Shirts were 21-0 up inside seven minutes as Doncaster Knights wing Imi Qorowale touched down twice and fly-half Jack Johnson added to his own score along with two more conversions.

The Irish got on the scoreboard through a Luke Johnson penalty, but the home side responded as full-back Owain Davies crossed on the right before outside centre Radianirova – equally capable of playing at the back three – collected his first, both created by powerful surges from a former Rams’ opponent, powerful Cambridge flanker Matt Dawson.

Aaron James found a way through for the Defence Force, but a dominant Army scored three more converted tries before the interval with Qorowale too hot to handle, his pace and power setting-up tries for Levi Roper and Davies before doubled up at the end of the opening 40 minutes.

There was something of a lull in the third quarter, but the hosts doubled down with four more tries, Roper grabbing a second before Gareth Smith finished a sweeping team move.

Another Rams’ rival, Plymouth Albion’s Pita Ratukadreu, came off the bench to collect a glorious Johnson cross-field kick for his side’s 11th score of the evening, their tally rounded out as Davies completed his hat-trick before Johnson missed just a second conversion in his 25-point haul.

The Inter-Services Championship begins with Royal Navy versus Royal Air Force at Plymouth on Saturday, with Radianirova then hoping to be included as the Army enter the fray against the Navy at Twickenham on Saturday, May 4.

The tournament ends with RAF hosting the Army at Gloucester’s Kingsholm Stadium the following week (May 11).
