TEAM NEWS: DUDA IN AS ONE OF FIVE CHANGES FOR ESHER

Rich Ashton20 Dec 2024 - 08:25

Emanuel, Baker, Atkins and Radianirova also start under Friday Night Lights!

TYRO Mikey Duda makes his first start of the National One season as Rams change five for the floodlit visit of Esher this evening (7.45pm).

Following last Saturday’s heart-breaking one-point reverse at Rosslyn Park, Seb Reynolds rings the changes as the home side look to snap a three-match losing run which has seen them slip six points adrift of Richmond at the head of the table.

The introduction of open-side flanker Duda from the off, who has scored in his two previous Level Three games at Old Bath Road, is one of four in the pack, the inspirational Ben Atkins also making a first start of the campaign having broken his ankle in pre-season.

The duo are joined by No. 8 James McRae in the back row, while up front there are two prop swaps as Bath loanee Ioan Emanuel and the everlasting James Baker take over, Morgan MacRae sandwiched between the duo at hooker.

The pack is rounded out by ever-present skipper Robbie Stapley and Dan Swain in the second row, while the half-backs of Jake Murray and Fraser Honey are also unaltered as they look to get the three-quarters moving.

Rowan Grundy remains at inside centre, this week partnered by Solodrau Radianirova as the Army man is restored to the starting line-up.

The Fijian’s recall means Axel Kalling-Smith shifts to the left wing, try-scorers against Rosslyn Park, Zach Clow and full back Andrew Lamb, completing the starting XV.

Prop cover from the bench is provided by Paddy Harris, yet to miss a matchday this term, and Liam Bishop, the former Ireland Under 20 who starred against Esher earlier this year.

Youngster Harry Stone can play in either the second or back row, while Tomek Pozniak and scrum-half Ollie Cole are ready to make an impact as the backs’ replacements.

Hooker Brad Clements, another No. 9 in Ollie Hodgson, and centre/wing Oli Rhoads are the travelling reserves.
