BERKSHIRE Under 20s starlet Mikey Duda will make his National One debut as one of four changes for Rams’ final home game of the season against Richmond tomorrow (3pm).
It caps a remarkable journey for the open-side flanker, who joined the club from neighbours Reading Abbey at the start of last season before progressing from the Dragon’s Teeth (4th XV) to his maiden first-team bow at Old Bath Road.
Duda’s debut comes in a back row also containing two of the breakthrough players of the campaign, Ben Atkins and Mike Hoyt, the latter at No. 8 for the first time having made all his previous appearances on the blind-side.
The other alteration in the pack sees Ryan Lomas swap with James Baker into the tight-head jersey, joined in the front row by Paddy Harris and the league’s top try-scorer, hooker Max Hayman.
Connor Stapley and Dan Swain remained an unchanged duo in the second row, while fly-half Fraser Honey takes over the captaincy following success in his first game in the role against Blackheath three weeks ago.
The Cornishman has a new partner inside him at scrum-half, Ed Hoadley in from the start, while Rowan Grundy also steps up off the bench to take the No. 12 shirt.
The remainder of the three-quarters remain the same personnel wise from last week’s Plymouth defeat, with Ellis Jones at outside centre, Charlie Robson on the left wing and Henry Bird and Zach Clow rounding out the side, albeit the latter duo swap positions to have the latter at full-back.
The return of the versatile James McRae and Sweden captain Axel Kalling-Smith means it is the same set of replacements – also featuring Baker, fellow prop Ant Marris and livewire scrum-half Ollie Monye – for the first time since the victory at Blackheath back in November, when Rams produced arguably their best second-half performance of the season.
Supporters are advised tomorrow is likely to be particularly busy at Old Bath Road, so please pre-book tickets at the discounted early-bird adult price of £15 (£17.50 on Saturday) by clicking here.
Parking is also close to being full, so if possible please car share or use the FREE park and ride from The Piggott School (runs every 20 minutes from 1pm).
