SECOND row Dan Swain returns to action as one of four changes to the starting line-up as Rams head to longest-standing National One rivals Bishop’s Stortford tomorrow (3pm).
Included in the divisional Team of the Season for the past two campaigns, the abrasive second row is finally on top of a foot complaint to join Harry Stone in the engine room.
Rams have previously played the Hertfordshire side on 12 hard-fought occasions, with two of tomorrow’s other changes coming in the front row – props Ant Marris and Liam Bishop coming in to sandwich skipper and the league’s top try-scorer with seven, Max Hayman.
There is plenty of experience among the back row – Tom Vooght on the open-side has scored back-to-back tries in the past two weeks to take his tally to 58 in 161 appearances as James McRae (16 in 53) and former skipper Robbie Stapley (102 in 230) have also reached personal milestones this season.
There is one personnel and one positional change among the three-quarters with Olise Monye back from injury to take over at scrum-half, Fraser Honey – averaging 10 points a game this season and needing just three tomorrow to reach 1,000 in National One and Two since 2017/18 – outside him.
Former Reading University ace Rowan Grundy is again at inside centre, the positional switch seeing Army man Solodrau Radianirova outside him as Axel Kalling-Smith moves to the right wing.
Tomek Pozniak is on the other flank having dotted down four times in four games following his key score last week, while Zach Clow leads the three-quarters’ efforts with one more from five matches during his electric start to the campaign.
Paddy Harris and Ryan Lomas – off the try-scoring mark last week – lead a bench followed up by the versatile Morgan MacRae, scrum-half Ollie Hodgson and the long-serving and ever-reliable Drew Humberstone.
Three travelling reserves head to Stortford in the form of Brad Clements, Liam Elston and Andrew Lamb.
