ENGLAND Under 20s Six Nations-winning prop Scott Kirk makes his first start as Rams make five changes for the visit of title-chasing Rotherham Titans tomorrow (3pm).
The Bath loanee has caught the eye as a replacement in the past two games, and is one of two changes in the front row, history-maker James Baker also stepping up from the bench on his record-extending 437th first-team league appearance.
Sandwiched between the two is captain Max Hayman, Baker’s long-term teammate and the club’s all-time top try-scorer Robbie Stapley back into the side to partner Nile Dacres in the engine room.
The final change among the forwards sees Ben Atkins return at open-side flanker in place of the unavailable Tom Vooght, Harry Stone and James McRae completing the back row.
Scrum-half Ollie Hodgson retains the No. 9 shirt having opened his try-scoring account at Blackheath last Saturday, while Fraser Honey moves a game away from a half-century as he continues his incredible ever-present record since joining the club.
The return of Army ace Solodrau Radianirova, one of the breakthrough stars of the campaign, sees the Fijian slot in outside Joe Pannese in midfield, Axel Kalling-Smith shifting to the left wing as he looks to add to his 10 tries this term.
On the other flank Jamaican 7s international Jack Rampton was excellent at Well Hall, the starting line-up rounded out by this season’s leading try-scorer Zach Clow – the full-back with 14 to his name in 22 appearances.
Replacement prop Paddy Harris continues his run of being in every matchday squad alongside Honey and Clow, while Nick Barry, the other player to grab his first Rams’ try last Saturday, will also provide ballast to the front row.
Young dynamo Mikey Duda comes back to provide his unique tackling destruction, with Royal Air Force scrum-half Sam Boxhall returning to the 20 having been on a training camp with the Forces’ side last week.
The versatile Andrew Lamb completes the squad able to cover fly-half or full-back, while five travelling reserves are included in case of any last-minute issues – Morgan MacRae, Ryan Lomas, Oli Rhoads, Tomek Pozniak and last week’s debutant Nat Arnold those on standby.
