TEAM NEWS: LAST-YEAR COLT LOUIS STARTS AGAINST RAF

Rich Ashton23 Oct 2024 - 07:25

Roumignac, Bishop and Arnold come into Development starting line-up!

TEENAGE scrum-half Louis Roumignac makes his Development XV debut as the Royal Air Force visit Old Bath Road tonight (7pm).

Last year’s Colt – who helped his side to an unbeaten league success in OBB Division One as well as a run to the semi-finals of the National Cup – heads three changes from last Wednesday’s fine 26-10 victory against Cambridge University.

The youthful Roumignac will be joined by the more experienced Tom Humberstone outside him at half-back, the four-time Oxford Blue skippering the side again.

The midfield partnership of Oli Rhoads and Joe Pannese remains the same, albeit they swap shirts at Nos. 12 and 13, while Jack Rampton – fresh from his sensational score seven days ago is again on the right wing.

Former Reading University student Alex Mannhardt starts on the other flank, with the second change to last week’s team seeing ex-Millfield School man Nat Arnold slotting in at full-back.

The final swap in the starting line-up has Liam Bishop back in at loose-head prop, joined by hooker Brad Clements and Nick Barry on the other side of the front row.

Behind them Liam Elston and Callum Pitfield – a late call-up who put in a superb display against Cambridge – remain together, with the dynamic back row trio of Jedd Paine, tackling machine Mikey Duda and prolific try-scorer Morgan MacRae rounding out the starting line-up.

Bench cover arrives at hooker in the form of ex-London Irish Academy man Harry Bicknell, Terrel Harry and Brad Killick the props ready to get involved against the RAF.

The long-serving, versatile Honours Cap Chris Kessell – ‘the Tilehurst Wrecking Crew’ – stepped up from the Centaurs a week ago and retains his place in the squad, covering both the engine room and back room, while youngster Jack Rushton also caught the eye as a forwards’ replacement against Cambridge.

Another of last year’s successful Colts’ side, Theo Pett-Ridge, can play anywhere from fly-half to full-back and is joined in covering the three-quarters by Joel Davies.

Kick-off is at 7pm with entry free and food and drink on sale from 5.30pm.
