TEAM NEWS: RAMS CHANGE FIVE FOR STORTFORD SHOWDOWN

TEAM NEWS: RAMS CHANGE FIVE FOR STORTFORD SHOWDOWN

Rich Ashton6 Oct 2023 - 11:45

Englezos, Crame, Collis, McRae and Monye start at Old Bath Road!

RAMS make five changes including four in the pack as they host Bishop’s Stortford in what promises to be another National One cracker tomorrow (3pm).

Tight-head prop Paul Englezos returns from injury to take a starting spot at tight-head prop, while Ross Crame is in the second row and Josh Collis and James McRae also come into the pack.

Scrum-half Ollie Monye gets a first start of the season in the final swap from last week’s 41-35 triumph at Taunton Titans.

The dynamic Englezos is joined in the front row by ever-present top-scorer Max Hayman – the hooker having racked up five tries already this season and an impressive 30 in 53 first-team appearances in total – and Ant Marris, the loose-head having made the decisive tackle to secure the victory in Somerset last time out.

Mini-turned-first-teamer Crame, earning a 123rd cap, has Dan Swain alongside him in the engine room.

Collis returns at blind-side flanker with Vince Everitt – outstanding at the breakdown on his first start of the season last week – on the other side, James McRae back after a week away at No. 8 in place of injured skipper Robbie Stapley.

Former Oratory School ace Monye – who has two tries in four appearances off the bench this term – gets the nod at No. 9 with top-scorer Fraser Honey outside him.

Drew Humberstone captains the side from inside centre with the rest of the three-quarters unchanged from the trip to Taunton, Ellis Jones at 13 and Axel Kalling-Smith, Jak Rossiter and Zach Clow completing the starting line-up.

There is a return to the bench for dynamic prop Niall Kidd, James Baker also creeping closer to his 400th cap and ready to add ballast at scrum-time.

Ben Atkins is the second-top try-scorer with four to his name so far and covers the rest of the pack, while Connor Hayhow can play anywhere across the three-quarters and Ollie Cole is a scrum-half with more than a century of first-team appearances.
