RAMS have named a 36-man squad for their two-match pre-season tour to Dublin later this week.
Lansdowne on Thursday (7.30pm) and Terenure on Saturday (2pm) are the two capital city sides lying in wait for a Rams group which includes six props led by the irrepressible James Baker.
The legendary tight-head is joined by newcomer Terel Harry – formerly of Saracens Academy – Ant Marris, and three props capable of performing on both sides of the scrum in Paul Englezos, Sean McDonnell-Roberts and Irishman Ryan Lomas.
A quartet of hookers travel in the form of Ben Henderson, last season’s Young Player of the Year, Max Hayman, Spencer Hayhow and Ollie Moffitt, while there are a number of players capable of featuring in the second row.
They include new boy Dan Swain – an off-season acquisition from Taunton Titans who has previously played for Plymouth Albion – long-serving Ollie Taylor and Colin Thomson, while the likes of Fijian powerhouse Mana Cakau, Liam Goodison and James McRae are equally adept in either the engine room of back row.
The latter trio are also accustomed to playing on the blind-side flank, with Josh Collis having played at six or seven, where Vince Everitt and Roan Noone – picked by the South West Counties Under 20s side at the end of last season – will also be in action.
Skipper and No. 8 Robbie Stapley is joined by Ross Crame in rounding out the 21 forwards set to head to the Fair City.
In the backs, Ollie Cole, Joe Booth and Ollie Monye are the scrum-halves selected, with Rowan Grundy and Alex Seers at stand-off, a position Drew Humberstone has also filled regularly alongside inside centre and full back.
In midfield, Connor Hayhow, fit-again Ellis Jones, defensive maestro Stevie Bryant and Axel Kalling-Smith will all see action, with the express pace of teenager Charlie Robson leading the way in the back field.
He is joined by another dynamic flyer in Fin Matthews – Berkshire Under 20s’ hat-trick hero in their County Championship final defeat to Northumberland – new boy Faysal Olabooye, youngster Sam Rennell and Miki Vancura in rounding out the squad.
