TEAM NEWS: TITANS NAME 22-MAN SQUAD FOR BIG GAME AT BRUNEL

Flanker Paxton to lead side in double-point fixture!

RAMS Titans have named a 22-man squad for their crucial Raging Bull Shield Division One trip to Brunel University tomorrow (2pm).

Titans were originally set to visit Barnes 2nd XV, but a late change of plan sees them head to the side affiliated with Ealing Trailfinders for a mouth-watering double-point game.

Rams sit third in the table with a record of (P16 W9 L7 Pts 53) with their opponents currently (P10 W7 L3 Pts 38), meaning it is a big contest in the race to finish as runners-up behind champions-elect Richmond Vikings.

Long-serving open-side flanker Rory Paxton returns to the side as skipper in a back row which features regulars Liam Goodison and former Mini, No. 8 Ross Crame, while the front row is made up of former Ireland Under 20s debutant loose-head Ryan Lomas, hooker Ollie Moffitt and Paul Englezos, the latter having provided sterling service off the bench for the 1st XV in recent weeks.

The engine room is made up of the powerful Omar Ellaboudy and Colin Thomson, while Sam Boyland also returns to the side following a month involved with the 1st XV at scrum-half, partnered in the fulcrum by Steffan James.

The midfield is made up of two players with Trailfinders connections in Carl Morgan and Swedish international Axel Kalling-Smith, while the starting line-up is rounded out by last week’s two-try hero Alex Manhardt and Miki Vancura on the wings, and the ever-dependable Kieran Leicester at full-back.

On the bench, hooker Ian Brown and Reading University man James Grant provide cover in the front row, while further back in the pack Fergus Taylor returns from injury and Mana Cakau from Army duties.

Alex Sparkes is increasingly getting back to the form which helped him earn first-team action before injury struck a few years ago, while Sam Nicholls had been growing week on week until injury struck him down at Rosslyn Park Rangers and fellow youngster Ollie Andrews is a handy footballer capable of playing further out wide.
