Powerful prop ready to put in hard work over the summer!

DEBUTANT Terrel Harry said making his maiden Rams start has spurred him on for many more after Saturday’s 39-31 National One defeat at Birmingham Moseley.

Things did not start well for the young tight-head prop, who has impressed for the Titans during his second season at Old Bath Road, or any of his teammates as they crashed to a 24-0 deficit inside 16 minutes as Aquile Smith, Ryan Roach, Freddie Painter and Sam Pointon secured an early try bonus-point for the hosts, Tighe Maxwell-Whiteley knocking over a couple of conversions.

Rams, though, showed great heart and after Fraser Honey added to a Max Hayman score, could have further cut the deficit but for Henry Bird being adjudged off-side when touching down a Rowan Grundy grubber kick.

Maxwell-Whiteley had knocked over a penalty for 27-7 before Mike Hoyt went over, and the flanker repeated the trick early in the second half as the deficit was cut to eight points.

But Hayman’s sin-binning and tries from Ollie Allsopp and Callum Allen gave Moseley the initiative back, Rams rescuing a bonus of their own and some credit with Finn Matthews baggin a first National One try and Ollie Monye crossing with the final play of the game.

Looking back on his first start, ex-Ealing Trailfinders Academy man Terrel said: “I don’t know what to say – I’m lost for words! I’m so happy to make my debut and now it’s all about hard work during the summer and then in pre-season.

“It’s given me a lot of motivation and it was a great feeling to play. We were a bit switched off at the beginning, it wasn’t what we wanted, but we showed what we’re about after that.

“The guys turned it on as the game went on, we came back strongly and nearly got it done.”

With Hoyt’s second try coming from close range following a series of impressive scrums from the visitors, modest ‘Big T’ added: “I was pleased with that, but I need to thank all the other boys – the second row, the flankers, James (McRae) at No. 8 for helping me.

“I also want to thank the supporters and can’t wait for next season now.’
