SOUTH African Tim Townsend ended the Titans’ best-ever season as their top points-scorer, posting 152 to finish as the second highest in Rams’ senior rugby.
The fly-half/full-back proved a popular addition after coming over from SA, grabbing five tries, 62 conversions – despite losing his favoured kicking tee early on – and a penalty en route to a super haul as the Titans finished in a share of third place in Division One of the HALBRO Raging Bull Shield.
Tim also added a trio of conversions for the 1st XV to take his overall tally to 158 on his maiden trip to England.
Second on the list was Coaches’ Player of the Year Spencer Hayhow, the versatile ex-Pangbourne College man crossing the whitewash 10 times for 50 points while playing at loose-head prop, hooker, both sides of the back row and also at inside centre!
One of Rams’ best in recent years, Stevie Bryant, was joined in scoring seven tries by hooker Ollie Moffitt and young guns Terrel Harry and Ollie Monye, while Joe Booth, Mike Hoyt and Connor Hayhow all touched down on six occasions, Booth also knocking over a conversion to leave him with a seasonal haul of 32.
Rowan Grundy kicked 13 conversions for 26 points, brilliant youngster Charlie Robson grabbed five tries for 25 and Mana Cakau, Zach Clow and Scott Harman went over four times apiece to end with 20.
Honours Cap man Ross Crame was joined by another former Colt, Sam Rennell, in picking up three tries, with Tom Humberstone landing three conversions in addition to a try at Henley Bulls to finish with 11 points.
Aiden Burnett, Ryan Lomas, Miki Vancura and the 1st XV’s top try-scorer Jak Rossiter all bagged two tries during the season, with single efforts coming from Andy Amor, Josh Collis, Liam Goodison, Paddy Harris, Ben Henderson, Guy Howson, Kieran Leicester, Declan Murphy, the retiring Craig Nightingale, Roan Noone, Faysal Olabooye, Ethan Pawadyira, Solo Radianirova and Colin Thomson to round out the side’s marvellous 107 five-pointers.
In total the Titans scored 696 across 21 games – two conceded in the league but added to by the Floodlit 34-22 success against the RAF in December.
