ZACH Clow’s double at Darlington Mowden Park ensured the full-back ended the National One season as Rams’ top try-scorer.
The Cardiff Met University alumni had led the way for the past couple of months and ended a superb campaign with 17 tries to his name, skipper Max Hayman next on the list with 13.
Sweden captain Axel Kalling-Smith went over in the season finale to end one behind the captain, while Tomek Pozniak and Morgan MacRae both crossed against Rosslyn Park and DMP to end their debut seasons at Old Bath Road with nine and eight respectively.
Dan Swain’s double against the Londoners saw him draw level on six with retiring legend Robbie Stapley, another long-serving hero Tom Vooght moving to five with his opener in Darlington.
Back rows James McRae – who scored a sensational hat-trick against Rosslyn – and Ben Atkins, who snaffled a brace at Mowden, upped their tallies to four, joining Andrew Lamb and Army man Solodrau Radianirova on the figure.
Rams ended the campaign with a trio of penalty tries, a figure matched by Ollie Hodgson after the young scrum-half made it three on the bounce in defeat at Richmond, while Mikey Duda’s late effort in the final home game versus Rosslyn saw him join Nile Dacres, Rowan Grundy, Ryan Lomas and Oli Rhoads on two.
Remarkably James Baker – with his 49th career effort – and Jack Rampton, with his first, took the number of players to cross the whitewash to 28 this term when dotting down against Richmond.
And Joe Pannese made it 29 at DMP, joined by Nick Barry, Sam Boxhall, Ollie Cole, Ioan Emanuel, Luke Graham, Olise Monye, Jake Murray and Jasper Spandler with one to their name.
The 17 tries in April helped Rams reach 118 in their 26 fixtures – an average of 4.54 per game.
The forwards/backs split closed at 64-54 (including three penalty tries for the pack) with three matches remaining, scores coming right across the park as the season heads to its conclusion.
