AXEL Kalling-Smith scored a sensational solo try as he helped Sweden to a convincing 37-17 home victory against Croatia in their opening Rugby Europe Trophy encounter.
The RAMS wing, who featured in all seven of the club’s National One games until last Saturday, converted his form onto the international stage with a brilliant effort from outside centre in Stockholm.
Axel had previously grabbed RAMS’ opening five-pointer of the season with a typically powerful finish against Esher and added a second with one of the individual efforts of the campaign to date against Hull.
For Sweden, he collected a pass some 40 metres out then threw a dummy before charging towards the line, and despite being tap tackled, he performed a forward roll before dotting down.
While RAMS visit Leeds Tykes this afternoon, Axel will again be in action for his country as they aim to make it back-to-back wins against Switzerland.
