YOUTH rugby from Minis to Colts returned to Old Bath Road in fine style on a glorious day last Sunday.
OBR was full with kids getting back to it, the Minis showing their skills in the morning before the Under 13s and above trained in the afternoon.
The Colts were the only side to play a game, and they provided plenty of entertainment as they took on a skilful Newbury outfit in a game played across four quarters.
Tries from Elias Cerkel-Li and Jack Mander helped the hosts edge the first period, with both sides showing some fine talent.
Matt Cox converted a Finn Ivory score in the second stanza, Ant J, Finlay Wells and Aidan Pugh also touching down as the kicker added two more.
Watching Youth Chairman John Raspin commented on the fine way the new junior colts and the senior ones gelled under head coach Dave Cox, while Rams CEO Gary Reynolds was impressed with the skill levels shown by both sides.
A second try from Ant and one from Jake Scott kick-started the third quarter before Newbury hit back with two fine five-pointers of their own along with a conversion.
Ivory doubled his tally before a couple more tries arrived in the final period, Josh Jones and Callum Du Preez the two to dot down.
The Colts host Bracknell this afternoon on the first-team pitch (1.30pm), with training for the rest of the youth section continuing in the same manner as last week.
