STEVIE Bryant’s last-play try earned Rams a bonus-point win as they snapped a three-match losing run with a 24-10 home success against Cinderford.
The hosts came out strongly and a sublime pass from Mike Hoyt sent Max Hayman charging up the left, the ball then sent back inside for Ed Hoadley to cross on six minutes.
Fraser Honey landed the conversion, things almost getting better only for the hosts to knock-on over the line following a superb Hoyt off-load.
Rams continued to look lively and almost doubled their tally following wave after wave of attacks, only for Hayman to be penalised for dipping into a tackle just short of the line.
Cinderford got on the board before the break with a Joe Winfield penalty, but it was the home side who took a stranglehold on proceedings early in the second half.
Firstly, Ben Atkins made a brilliant break in midfield, and while he was stopped short, a couple of phases later he got the ball and blasted over.
Honey was on target before things got worse for the visitors as Danny Hodge was sin-binned for a high tackle, Charlie Robson then scoring one of the best tries seen at Old Bath Road in many a year.
The left wing took the ball on his own 10-metre line before angling a run across the field, and from there he showed tremendous acceleration to surge clear, handed off a trio of would-be defenders and powered over in clubhouse corner.
Cinderford, though, refused to yield and gave themselves a lifeline with a huge 11-man rolling maul, scrum-half Tom Knight the beneficiary shortly before the hour mark.
With Winfield’s conversion the gap was cut to nine points, and the two sides continued to go hammer and tongs at one another in the final quarter.
Yet it was Rams who held firm, the visitors reduced to 14 men for the second time as Knight blotted his copybook with a deliberate knock-on.
And with the crowd behind them, it was the long-serving Bryant who took a pass from Humberstone to wriggle over from five metres out.
