RAMS withstood a physical war to record a magnificent seventh straight National One victory courtesy of a 24-7 home success against Birmingham Moseley.
The two sides felt each other in the early stages, but it was a superb defensive set which helped put the hosts in front, the excellent Rowan Grundy snaffling an interception on his own 22 before freeing Tomek Pozniak to run in from halfway.
On his 200th National League appearance, Fraser Honey added the extras before the hosts extended the lead at the end of the first quarter, a patient maul ending with Ryan Lomas dotting down his second try in as many games at Old Bath Road.
Rams scrum-half Jake Murray was pulling the strings beautifully on debut, but despite dominating territory, the hosts were unable to add to their advantage before the break.
Visiting full-back Sam Pointon was yellow-carded for a deliberate knock-on midway through the third quarter, and things got worse for the Midlanders as Tighe Maxwell-Whiteley was then sent off for a dangerous tip-tackle on Honey.
Rams were then temporarily reduced to 14 as Morgan MacRae was sin-binned for retaliation, but Zach Clow then cut a fine line for a converted score which took Honey past 1,000 National League points.
Max Hayman was then yellow carded as Rams illegally brought down a maul for a Moseley penalty try, but Birmingham’s Will Safe then went for the same offence before Robbie Stapley powered over from the back of a scrum to finish the job.
