The Rams scored over fifty points for the first time ever in the National 2 South league with a dominant performance away against London Irish Wild Geese in a game that finished 12 – 52, to maintain third position in the table.
Captain and man of the match Robbie Stapley scored a hat trick to help lead the Rams to yet another victory to continue their scintillating run of form and cap off the year nicely, as coach Seb Reynolds touched on when he spoke to us after the game, saying “We were extremely proud of the performance, as it was a perfect example of how we are improving and developing. We were really happy to get the win against a London Irish Wild Geese side that have an electric back line, so it was important to shut that down. All in all credit must go to the boys for a brilliant first half of the season.”

The Rams began the game in their usual lively fashion with Souter making an interception after only 30 seconds, and whipping it wide to Sunley who knocked the ball forward in what surely would’ve been the opening try. The Rams came forward again, as they continued to control possession, this time through their consistently impressive pack, but once again they were let down by a sloppy pass upon approaching the home sides try line. However, the Rams were not left ruing their missed chances for long, as they took advantage of a five metre scrum to drive the ball over the line, with the try being claimed by captain Robbie Stapley, to put the first points of the afternoon on the board. This was followed up swiftly, as Jarvis sent a perfectly placed kick over the Wild Geese defence, which was followed up by a colossal tackle from Souter, allowing Conor Stapley to pounce on the ball and, after lengthy discussion among the officials, the Rams secured their second try of the afternoon.
The Wild Geese enjoyed a period of possession themselves over the next ten minutes but were unable to break down the wall-like Rams defence, allowing the momentum to sway back in favour of the away side.Robbie Stapley carried the ball out of defence in Herculean fashion with Thomson taking over, giving the ball to Jarvis who smartly played the ball inside to Cole who stretched the ball over the line despite an attempted tackle.
With the game approaching half time, it seemed inevitable that the home side would reply with a try of their own, applying relentless pressure on the Rams defence, but the Reading men were saved by the sweet sound of the Referees whistle, leaving their 0 – 19 lead intact going into the break.
The Wild Geese began in lively fashion in the second half as Joseph broke with a sixty yard run, but was once again matched by the Rams defence with some brilliant defensive work from Vooght. Normal order was restored as the Rams began knocking on the door of the home sides try line as they strove for their bonus point try. Nonetheless, they did not have to wait long, as they scored through Robbie Stapley courtesy of an impressive drive from a five metre scrum, reminiscent of the second try of the game, demonstrating the devastating consistency of the Rams pack. Stapley followed this up shortly after with his hat trick try, until the Wild Geese replied with two tries of their own, displaying the fast paced attacking rugby for which they had become reputable, as hope of the unlikely come back began to creep into the minds of the fans.
However, any doubts in the minds of the Rams fans was quickly quashed, as, once again having found themselves camped five metres from the Wild Geese try line for a scrum, which they had seemed to make their second home for the afternoon, Vooght took the ball over the line, after the pack drove imposingly, leaving the Rams with a comfortable lead going into the final ten minutes.

Shortly after this the Wild Geese damaged their quest for any further tries as White received a yellow card. The Rams took full advantage of their extra man finishing the game off with two more tries for Souter and Richardson taking the score to a phenomenal 12 – 52.
