The Rams were unable to bounce back from their loss against Chinnor the previous week, as Cinderford took the game away from the Reading men after a late surge with two tries left the score at 26 – 5 to the home side.
The Rams fought hard in the first half, going into the break all square, but they struggled to find their feet after the break, spending almost the entire second half camped in their own territory, for which they were eventually punished.
The game began in freezing conditions, with a thick fog having descended over the playing pitch.
Nonetheless, the Rams seemed unaffected as they dominated the early exchanges, and they almost capitalised on this early dominance. With both sides fighting for the ball in scrappy fashion, it fell kindly for the Rams, over the Cinderford try line, with Vooght ready to pounce, but unfortunately for him, he was beaten to the ball by the Cinderford full back.

Cinderford reacted well to what could’ve been a disastrous start to the game, as they relentlessly came forward at a resilient Rams defence, going through the phases efficiently, until eventually they found a gap, with Hone taking the ball over the line for an unconverted try.

The Rams responded well, immediately pinning the home side within their 22 line, and Humberstone displayed a moment of creativity to chip the ball over the Cinderford defence for Corrigan to run on to, but the move was eventually broken down due to the Rams conceding a penalty.

Over the next five minutes the game entered a period of stalemate, as the foggy and freezing conditions seemed to be affecting both sets of players, leading to a series of handling errors.

However, the Rams were able to compose themselves, following a lengthy delay due to an injury for Cinderford, and the pack drove impressively from five metres out, with Lloyd whipping the ball out quickly to Corrigan on the wing who dived over the line, bringing the scores level going into half time.

The fog began to lift at the beginning of the second half and Cinderford took full advantage, taking the lead quickly after the break as they pounced on a loose ball over the Rams try line having blocked a clearance kick from Humberstone.

Cinderford seemed to have come into the second half with a new zeal of energy as they spent the next 25 minutes camped in within the Rams 22 line, with the away side unable to find their way out, whilst absorbing relentless pressure, which began to show as Rossiter and Baker picked up knocks.

Despite dominating the possession and territory, Cinderford were unable to find a way through and so opted to take three points by the way of a penalty kick, but this opportunity was also missed.

However, Cinderford were not left ruing their missed chances for long, as they scored two quick tries in similar fashion to that of then first, with the forwards carrying the ball forward and forcing their way over the Rams try line, and signaling the end of the game with a victory for the home side.

Next week Rams will be taking on Tonbridge Juddians at Old Bath Road and will be hoping the crowd get behind them as they did they at last week's match against Chinnor. KO 2pm
